Rebecca Crowell's work is so strong and clear. Not clear like an explanation, but like an atmosphere, or medieval music... that simple beauty where every part counts.

Exciting news: this website will soon be updated and reorganized in order to provide a format for teaching information, my writings about art, and other information geared toward artists. For now, it continues to display a selection of recent abstract paintings created in oil mixed with cold wax medium. You may also view my mixed media paintings on paper, which are created using many of the same techniques and tools I use in my work with oil and wax. My home and studio are in Osseo, Wisconsin, a rural area where I have a connection with the landscape that feeds my nature-based imagery.
My work is handled by fine art galleries in the US in Santa Fe, NM: Minneapolis, MN: Scottsdale, AZ; Telluride, CO; and in Paoli and Door County, Wisconsin.
I now offer workshops around the country and in my own studio about the techniques I've developed over the past six years for using cold wax medium with oils. Please see the workshop page of this website for details.
Many of my paintings are made up of individually painted wood panels, permanently mounted together into one composition to evoke a feeling, an idea, a place, or an aspect of nature. The divisions between the panels provide structure to what is otherwise organic, flowing imagery. Other paintings are complete on a single panel.
Thank you very much for exploring my website. I welcome comments, inquiries and additions for my mailing list. For current happenings and musings about art, please visit my blog. You may also see updates on my work on my Facebook page.

Artists, please visit this exciting website: Oil and Wax. I started this site to enable discussion and sharing among artists who love working with cold wax medium, or want to find out more about it. The site has been growing constantly, with members joining and participating from around the world.

To read more about how I use cold wax medium in my work, please check out this article that I wrote, recently published online, sponsored by the Jacquard Company, manufacturers of Dorland's Wax Medium.

Please check out recent updates on my Workshops page on this website. I have added new dates and information for my 2011 schedule.
